Koren Bedeau, Ph.D.

Associate Dean of Graduate School
University of Miami

Koren A. Bedeau is Associate Dean of the Graduate School and affiliated faculty in the School of Communication at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. She has over fourteen years of experience as a higher education administrator. Throughout this time, she has managed and coordinated grants, research symposia, and international study travel programs, most of which have been geared toward low income, first generation and underrepresented minority students. As deputy dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Bedeau provides leadership for academic affairs, and professional development initiatives, represents the Graduate School on university wide committees, and serves as liaison to faculty in twelve schools and colleges. She is a founding member and historian for the Society of STEM Women of Color, and current president of the National Name Exchange. Dr. Bedeau earned a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Howard University and B.S. and M.A. degrees from the University of Central Florida. She is a first generation Trinidadian American, born in Brooklyn and raised in Miami Gardens, FL.
